Alegrante is a fantasia originally composed in 2018 for violin and piano and dedicated to Duo Voronkov. In 2024, the work was transcribed for clarinet and piano through a commission by Melissa Venegas, bringing a new color and dimension to its expressive possibilities.
The piece draws its inspiration from the Colombian pasillo, weaving together two distinct rhythmic and emotional strands: the pasillo lento, marked by its lyrical, reflective character, and the pasillo fiestero, full of lively energy and rustic charm. Through this interplay, Alegrante creates vivid contrasts and moments of connection, allowing the piano and clarinet to engage in spirited and tender dialogue.
